springtime and yummy memories…

The weather was beautiful yesterday- light breeze, 75 degrees, and sunshiny! The last few days of storms and 40 degree weather had put a damper on my spring fever. [My house is messy again- sad]

Anyway, with the good weather my fever’s returned- I’ve got another list!! The first thing on it is to construct a flower bed. My mom gave me a box full of Canna bulbs and over 50 gladiolus bulbs yesterday. I’m not a gardener but I can’t wait to plant them! Hmmmm… maybe I’ll become one. Flower bulbs are such a fantastic reminder to me about how God is about doing “new” things in our lives and relationships (ref. post “Heart Matters”) Bulbs are so unattractive and SOOO much work but the beauty that unfolds from them is breathtaking! I can’t wait to see them grow… I’ll definitely post pics.

With our visit to my childhood home and the gorgeous weather something triggered my taste buds to remember my “to die for” favorite dessert. I requested it for my July b-day on more than one occasion growing-up. There’s a strawberry version that I’ve had, but this one is by far the best!! My mom is the only one that’s ever made it like this that I’ve had-

Peach Pretzel Salad

Mix together:

2 cups crushed pretzels – 3/4 cup melted butter – 3 tsp. sugar

pat in 13x 9 pan and bake @ 400 degrees for 8 minutes. cool completely.

Cream with Mixer:

8 oz. softened cream cheese- 1 cup of sugar- 1 sm container of cool whip

Spread creamed mixture on cooled pretzel mixture.

Last Topping:

1 lg. pkg of peach jello – 2 cups boiling water – 1 lg Can of Peaches diced and drained

Dissolve jello in boiling water. Cool until partially set. Stir in fruit. Pour over cream cheese mixture. refrigerate until set. Enjoy!!

Funny or Not Funny?

Well I replaced the pump! I learned alot–

1. My refrigerator is on wheels – and I’m strong enough to move it myself.

2. You must remove the back of the refrigerator to get to the pump.

3. A push -in plug is not as easy to disassemble as just pulling it out.

4. That all breakers are labeled # 20 on the tops of them but they have different numbers on the sides. (20 was the fridge’s # and that was why everything else kept going off)

5. And that just because you correctly replace the refrigerators water pump doesn’t mean that it will fix your ice maker. Yep it’s STILL broken!!!!!!!

Now I can’t decide, I went to all that trouble by myself and nothing changed!! My ice maker still won’t work. Hmmmmmm should I laugh or cry???

little adventures…

Last night a couple of things happened that haven’t ever happened before—

1. Eli wanted to watch a video. Much to our dismay it seemed that it wasn’t a possibility because the VCR wouldn’t accept the tape. It kept on spitting it out. We definitely wouldn’t have wanted to buy another one just because of how nearly extinct VCR tapes are becoming, but we do have some tapes that we still really enjoy. Dr. Smithson began the surgery process. After detaching the front of the machine, he removed 4 puzzle pieces, peanut butter cracker remains, a lost Elmo toothbrush, squishy little pom pom decorations, and pop ice wrapper. Needless to say we were amazed!! He replaced the cover and in went the VCR tape. It worked perfectly. Our tape player and myself now have a common point of bonding. We both reach maximum capacity and can’t function!!!!! =))

2. The second interesting thing that happened. Around 7:30 p.m. I started getting really tired. I decided to rest a little. I didn’t wake up until midnight. (Thank you sweetie!) I normally go to bed between 10:30 and midnight. I got up brushed my teeth and went back to sleep until 7:00 this morning. I guess I was tired… I sure do feel good now!

Today– I’ve got all the normal Tuesday things–

Clean the house up for Piano Students this afternoon,

Laundry,

and non-normal things. (I’m going to install a water pump on our refrigerator Yikes!!) I’ve got to figure out how to turn the breaker off first. Hopefully I’ll still be here tomorrow =)

Have a GREAT day!

Something Happens…

I’m so relieved — I finally feel pretty good about the choir piece “Something Happens”. Whew it’s been ALOT of work! I know your prayers will be what makes it come alive tomorrow. Thanks for all you support and love!
