P’s and F’s

So for all of you educational professionals and  speech pathologists….  is it normal for kids to mix up their p’s and f’s?  I’ve heard of s’s, r’s, l’s and more but the p’s and f’s are a new one for me.

Here’s how the conversation went:

Monica:  I go to bafroom on big fotty mommy

Me:  You sure are!  Good Girl.

Monica:  We have little fotty at home… it’s fink.

Me: Yes you’re right.

Monica:  I pinished Mommy!

Well, I don’t know the answer, but Trey does the same thing kind of. It’s mostly his p’s that sound like f’s. And that’s only sometimes. Lol! He says “Papa” (my dad) as “Fapa.” But he says “pizza” just fine. I’d like to know the answer to this as well! But at least you know you’re not alone. ;)

haha…that’s so cute! I’m not sure if I heard that before. I’m sure she’ll grow out of it, they do sound similar.

Completely normal and developmentally appropriate… just repeat what she says the correct way… “yes, we do have a little potty at home” and she will learn to say it correctly eventually!
