My posts have been a bit sporadic lately. WHY?? Because I must confess I’ve been stretched to the limit this summer. I’m sure it’s probably only the beginning stages of motherhood but for me all of our interesting “incidents” had completely worn me out. I’m just a rookie I guess.
I didn’t tell you before, BUT the day of Eli’s nose experience Monica dislocated her elbow that evening!!!!!! Steven had already returned to camp so I fielded that by myself. Our pediatrician is the absolute greatest! I was so embarrassed to call him after we had already spent 2 1/2 hours in his office the day before. However, I did and he reset it after office hours. Where? — at Wendy’s (of all places). Let me tell you I made eye contact with NO ONE in the restaurant. Me with my screaming child and everyone starring was quite a humiliating moment (at least they didn’t know I’d been at the hospital with the other one that morning- sigh!) =)
By the time Steven got home I think I was stumbling around the house with a look of bewildered exhaustion and my confidence as a mommy and housekeeper shattered.
[Side note- I must let you know we have figured out our maggot issue. An area right outside the back door holds water and became a fly swamp shortly after we ripped everything up. It looked like a barnyard. We found out 1 fly can lay 300-400 eggs in very little time. I think with the incessant storms we just had more flies in the house than normal and one of them just happened to be pregnant. We have installed gutters and sprinkled hydrated lime on the ground and the flies are gone.]
Okay so I’m guessing your blog reading time is about up so I’ll try to wrap this up. This past week has been wonderful! Here are the highlights:
1. It started off with both of my children spending the night with my superhero sis-n-law and staying with them until dinner time the following day. I had some much needed time alone with myself and a great date with Steven as well. We went to dinner, watched The Dark Knight, and slept very late.
2. My mom came up Thursday and took me birthday shopping all day. We also went to P.F. Changs. She even paid for a babysitter - all you grandmas out there PLEASE do this for you children, trust me they need breaks too!!! We had a fabulous time together!
3. We had some dear friends in the ministry spend the day with us Friday. We ate amazing food, watched our kidos play, had grown-up talk while they napped, swam, and talked a long time after the sun went down. VERY refreshing!
4. We visited our children’s ministry camp. It was a five hour drive to meet with our church but was totally worth it. All of us had a WONDERFUL time!! (I’ll post pics of camp soon)
shhhhhh I don’t think this should have made me feel better but it did- There was another lady from our church serving as a counselor and both of her kids were in the ER last Friday. — both were separate incidents.
So with purposed relaxation this household is doing MUCH better. I do feel human again.
